A city with more than 2000 years of history
Tarragona was one of the most important capitals of the Roman Empire, as evidenced by the fact that it was one of the few Roman cities with circus, theater and amphitheater. These three architectural pieces, together with the wall that surrounds the city, are the most important footprint of Roman Tarragona.
The medieval city that was later Tarragona, is recognized mainly in the Cathedral and some XNUMXth century churches located in the highest part of the ancient Roman enclosure.
All this historical legacy was recognized by UNESCO with the denomination of Tarragona as a World Heritage Site on November 30, 2000; a symbol of the city's potential as both a tourist and business destination.
